1) Who we are
proptrading.guru (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides comparison content about proprietary trading (“prop trading”) firms and their challenges. Contact: hello@proptrading.guru
2) What we collect
- Usage data (via analytics): page views, referrers, device/browser type, approximate location (city/country), and events (e.g., clicks). No trading performance is collected.
- Contact data (only if you submit it): your email address when you subscribe to the newsletter.
- Link interaction data: when you click out to prop firms from our comparison pages, we may append tracking parameters to links and/or use affiliate/partner URLs.
- Cookies and similar technologies: used for analytics, remembering preferences, and measuring outbound link performance.
3) Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site so we can improve content and UX. Google Analytics sets cookies that help us count visits, see popular content, and understand traffic sources. Where supported, we enable privacy-friendly features such as IP masking.
- Data processed by Google: online identifiers (e.g., cookie IDs), device info, pages visited, events (clicks), approximate geo.
- Control: you can block/clear cookies in your browser settings or use Google’s opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Retention: we use standard GA retention windows unless otherwise required for security or debugging.
4) Affiliate & tracking links (how we earn money)
Some outbound links to prop firms are affiliate or partner links.
This means the firm may recognize that you visited from our site and pay us a commission if you sign up or make a purchase.
To do this, a link may contain tracking parameters (for example, utm_*
or an affiliate ID), and the partner may place a cookie on their own domain to attribute referrals.
- Clicking these links does not cost you anything.
- We do not receive your trading data or account details from partners.
- We aim to keep comparisons neutral; affiliate status does not change our editorial criteria.
5) Why we use your data (legal bases)
- Legitimate interests: operate, secure, and improve the site; measure content performance; detect abuse.
- Consent: where required for analytics cookies and for sending the newsletter.
- Contract: respond to your requests (e.g., when you ask us to add/remove your email).
6) Cookies
Types of cookies we may use:
Type | Purpose | Typical Duration |
---|---|---|
Essential | Core site features, security, load balancing. | Session or short-lived |
Analytics | Measure traffic and events (Google Analytics). | Up to 24 months (per provider defaults) |
Affiliate/Attribution | Attribute outbound clicks/sales to us on partner sites. | Set and controlled by partners |
You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser. If we present a cookie banner, your choices there will be honored.
7) Newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email to send you weekly updates. You can unsubscribe anytime by using the link in our emails or emailing hello@proptrading.guru. We keep minimal logs to honor unsubscribe and compliance requests.
8) Data sharing & transfers
- We do not sell personal data.
- Service providers (e.g., analytics, email) may process data on our behalf under agreements that protect your information.
- Data may be processed outside your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses).
9) Data retention
- Analytics data: per provider defaults and our configuration.
- Email list: until you unsubscribe or request deletion, plus limited records to respect future opt-out.
- Security/debug logs: shortest period necessary.
10) Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise rights, email hello@proptrading.guru. We will verify requests as required by law.
11) Do Not Track
Many browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting. There is currently no universal standard for responding to DNT signals, but you can use the controls noted above to limit analytics and cookies.
12) Children’s privacy
Our content is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child provided us data, contact us to request deletion.
13) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. The “Last updated” date will change. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
